Kenapa aku memberi judul postingan ini dengan nama flu bergenre hewan karena ternyata ada juga flu bergenre negara seperti flu hongkong dan flu singapore. Jadi menurutku mungkin akan ada bermacam-macam lagi jenis flu selain flu yang sering aku derita karena debu dan udara dingin.
Beberapa tahun yang lalu bahkan hingga sekarang, dunia dihebohkan oleh pandemi flu yang cukup mematikan. Flu itu dinamakan flu burung atau H5N1 sesuai dengan namanya yang menjadi penyebab ialah ketika seseorang kontak dengan hewan aves atau burung yang telah terkena virus tersebut. Flu ini telah menyebar ke berbagai belahan dunia bahkan sampai ke Indonesia. Flu burung ini disebabkan oleh virus influenza tipe A yang bisa menyebar dari manusia ke manusia. Virus H5N1 tumbuh subur di daerah tropis.
Belum selesai masalah flu burung tersebut, tiba-tiba dunia kembali dikejutkan oleh pandemi flu lain yang dimulai dari Meksiko yang diberi nama flu Babi, sesuai dengan dari penularannya yang berasal dari hewan babi. Flu ini juga disebabkan oleh virus influenza tipe A yaitu H1N1. Flu ini telah menyebar hingga ke 30 negara namun belum sampai ke Indonesia (semoga saja tidak sampai), flu ini juga menyebar dari manusia ke manusia bahkan tingkat penyebarannya lebih cepat daripada flu burung. Bahkan menurut hasil penelitian terbaru, hanya dengan sekali bersin saja sekira 100.000 virus H1N1 bisa menempel di mana saja dan berpotensi menyebarkan penyakit kepada orang yang menyentuh benda-benda yang terkena bersin.
Belum selesai menangani masalah flu babi, muncul lagi sebuah flu yang dinamakan flu kuda sesuai dengan penyebaran yang berasal dari kuda. Flu ini mewabah di India dan telah menewaskan 43 ekor kuda di negara bagian barat India Rajasthan dan Gujarat. Flu kuda juga disebabkan virus Influenza A . Virus ini bisa berpindah ke jenis hewan lain serta dapat menular pada manusia walaupun sampai sekarang memang belum ditemukan penyebaran flu kuda ke hewan lain atau manusia (semoga saja tidak terjadi). Penyakit ini utamanya menyebar di antara sekumpulan kuda melalui kotoran, urin dan pupuk.
