Sumpah Pemuda merupakan sumpah setia hasil rumusan Kerapatan Pemoeda-Pemoedi Indonesia atau dikenal dengan Kongres Pemuda II, dibacakan pada 28 Oktober 1928. Tanggal ini kemudian diperingati sebagai “Hari Sumpah Pemuda”.
Adapun isi sumpah pemuda ialah :
- Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mengakoe bertoempah darah jang satoe, tanah Indonesia.
- Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mengakoe berbangsa jang satoe, bangsa Indonesia.
- Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mendjoendjoeng bahasa persatoean, bahasa Indonesia.
Sumpah pemuda memang masih melekat di benak para pemuda negeri ini namun itu hanyalah bersifat seremoni belaka. Kenapa begitu? Lihatlah, ketika mendekati hari sumpah pemuda orang-orang pada sibuk mengadakan upacara atau juga kegiatan-kegiatan yang dikategorikan sebagai bentuk penghargaan pada Hari Sumpah Pemuda.
Sudah saatnya sumpah pemuda dimaknai lebih dari sekedar upacara tapi juga jadi sebuah keteladan dalam menghargai perbedaan diantara kita. Marilah kita sebagai generasi penerus bangsa ini menjadi pelopor dalam perubahan mental negeri ini. Mari kita bersama-sama merenungkan kembali makna dari Sumpah Pemuda. Bersatulah pemuda Indonesia,
